Settling In

HJ is adjusting amazingly well. She is now on east coast time and loves our kids. She even rubbed the dog yesterday. We have introduced her to a few neighbors and she is doing very well; keeping a respectable distance or holding onto mama tightly. She slept the other night without her shoes and even showed her sense of humor tonight. When it was PJ time, she handed me her sock and stuck her foot out. Just as I reached to put her sock on, she pulled her foot back in and started laughing! We played this game for a few minutes having a good time.
Baths are still a huge NO GO and getting her to sleep, whether nap or bed is a little rough. She still wakes up a couple of times during the night, but if I go in and comfort her, she goes back to sleep. She is sleeping on the floor as she still has a fit if I try to lay her in her toddler bed.
She even likes her carseat!! After only two trips - the first from the airport and the second on the 3rd night home at 1:00am! We went to the ballfield today and she was more than happy to climb in and be strapped down.
I am truly amazed at how easy the transition has been at home given the rough time we had the first week. She has fit into our family perfectly. I love to watch her interact with her brothers and sister and they love having her around also.

P.S. Someone sent the kids stuffed bears and dogs with monogrammed sweaters from 1-800 flowers. They didn't come with a gift card, so I don't know who to thank, so here is your very public THANK YOU!

It can be so tough waiting and when other people blog their experiences its a huge comfort. I appreciate that you have kept up the blog after your trip. It looks like Hannah Joy was settled into life easily. I am so happy for you. Plus, I think I learned by looking at the Flicker pictures that we are close neighbors. We live in the Cloisters. We will have to get together once our little girl comes home.
