October 04, 2005

Well, all, I decided it was time to create a page to share our Journey to HJ with our connected friends and family.

When I was 16, I was walking in my aunt's field carrying my niece who was 2 at the time. When I came back to the house, I told my mom that I would have kids one day, even if I didn't get married. I knew that children would be a part of my life so adoption was an option if marriage wasn't in God's plans for me.

After CP and I got married, we knew many couples who struggled with infertility. When it was the right time for us to start our family, we talked about what we would do if we also struggled. We both agreed that fertility treatments were not something we were interested in and that adoption would be the way to expand our family if God chose to not bless us with biological children.

Well, it didn't take us long to get pregnant and in Sept 1998 our first son, JA was born. Not long after, in April 2000, JA received a brother named AT. Then after a miscarriage, the boys got a sister, SG, in Oct 2002. CP and I had long talked about having four kids, but a move to FL in 2003 delayed any further efforts on this front. After many long conversations about having a fourth child and biological vs adoption, we decided that we didn't want to risk another pregnancy and that adoption would be the path for expanding our family.
We checked into many options and after much prayer and investigation, we settled on international adoption from China with Great Wall China Adoption agency.
