Weight. V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W-L-Y.
Last year about this time, I weighed myself at the grocery store. I was shocked! I weighed almost as much as I did when I was pregnant with JA - and I gained 45 pounds with him! So, I decided to do something about it. I decided I wasn't going to make huge changes. Just small changes that I thought would last.
So, I joined a boot camp and worked out twice a week at 5:30am for 45min. (OK, that was a big change) I started parking as far away as possible at work. I found a partner to walk the stairs with me at lunch at work (a four story building and we did laps up and down). I had soup for lunch during the winter when it was cold. I started drinking more water. I tried to cut out carbs, but I still would have treats when I wanted them.
So far, I have lost 15 pounds. Not a huge total, but given the small changes I made, I think its a great start.
I have decided to step it up a notch for now and see if I can't drop about 15 pounds by the end of the year (a little over 1 pound a week). We'll see what happens....

Wow...good job! It's a lot of hard work, but if you make it habit, it will last a lifetime!
I got a health coach through my health insurance company and with her suggestions, I'm trying to become healthier. Jason and I started taking our lunch to work each day (salad and fruit) and my mother-in-law just gave me her tread mill. Today is day 4 of running on the treadmill and it's not too bad seeing as how I haven't been on a treadmill in over a year (2 months before we went to China last year we kind of stopped going to the gym due to all that was going on and haven't been back since!). I'm waiting to see differences, but it's still a little early.
I'm hoping for a little more muscle tone and a boost of energy. I need energy these days :-)
Still thinking about you and praying you get LOA soon!

Good for you! 15 pounds is huge!
I decided in Sept of last year that I needed to do something. I stopped drinking soda (My addiction). It was very hard. Then I started doing the Wii Fit every morning before the girls woke up. When we left for China in Jan I had lost 15 pounds. I was thrilled!
In May I decided I needed to get back to it and so after I walked the girls to school, Ethan & I would continue to walk. I had to gradually make it longer & longer. Then summer hit. I vowed not to let that stop me. So when Ethan woke up I would get him up and we would walk. We walked in our neighborhood (on the trails) for about an hour. I also started counting calories, but never deprived myself of a small snack if I craved it (I just cut the size down a lot from what I used to eat).
I am now at 34 pounds lost. I was a size 12 and now I'm a size 4. I love it and I feel so much better.
Ethan & I still walk but I make sure it's 3 mornings at least. It's hard to get 5 mornings in during the school year. Thankfully Ethan loves to walk. (well ride in the stroller).
Good luck with your weight loss goals. It's fun to see the scale drop.
CONGRATS!! 15 pounds is a BIG deal!! Keep up the good work! :)
