Tue AM Update on Dad

I went and saw Dad Monday morning and called and talked to Dad last night.  When I got there, he was out of bed and in his recliner chair!  The nurses said he had a good night and was doing well.  I took two rays of sunshine (SG and HJ) with me to cheer him up.  He finally got his ice chips while I was there.  He had been begging for them for days.  He said his mouth was so dry he could spit sandpaper!

They said that as long as he was able to keep the ice chips down that they could then remove the NG tube.  He was also scheduled to get a PIC line late yesterday.  This is a long-term IV where they can also draw blood and give him nutrition (steak in a bag as Dr. D called it).

His pain was down to a 6 (it had been 7 on Sunday).  He was also "walking" (doing leg movements to try and prevent blood clots) and "blowing up balloons" (breathing exercises) to help prevent pneumonia.

My sister is supposed to come up to visit today, so I think I'm going to take the day off.  I'll call and check on him and go visit again tomorrow.

Please also pray for AT.  He has had a fever off and on since Sunday and really wants to visit Grandpa.  Of course, he can't until he hasn't had a fever for 48 hrs.
