Thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:17-19
New International Version (NIV)
17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

I've known this verse nearly my entire life, but this month, it took on new meaning for me.  I was reading a devotional blog post and it struck me.  Whatever situation I find myself in, there is always something for which to be thankful.

I'm working on the day before Thanksgiving.
I'm thankful that I have a job when so many don't.

My car was seriously damaged in a car accident.
I'm thankful that the driver of the other vehicle had insurance.
I'm thankful that I have a car to drive.
I'm thankful that no one was injured.

It took a month for them to fix my car.
I'm thankful that the rental car was easy to drive.
I'm thankful that CP put a lot of miles on the rental to go to his seminar rather than on my car.

The home we are trying to buy has taken over 3 months to close.
I'm thankful that I have a home to live in while we wait.

You see, it is all a matter of perspective.  We have SO much to be thankful for even when it seems we don't.

If I really sat down and tried to list all the things for which thankful, I would be there for H-O-U-R-S.

God is so good.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful thanksgiving.  And if you still can't find something for which to be thankful, just go read this post I made last year.

Happy Thanksgiving!

More people need to remember this perspective. It so often and so easily gets lost.
