22 lbs and 33" tall!

Monday Afternoon March 27, 2006 5:00pm
Hannah Joy woke up right before we needed to leave for her medical appt and visa photo. We went downstairs and walked to the photo shop. She did NOT want her picture taken today. I tried to sit her in the seat and I tried holding her. No WAY! Finally, Kelly, our guide held her and they got a pretty good shot. Afterward, she actually wanted in the stroller! (yea!) We walked up and down the street while the photos were printed and then walked over to the medical exam office. I'm so glad Kelly decided to take us in the afternoon. There were only about 5 other families in the process so it didn't take very long. However, Hannah Joy did NOT want her coat or clothes taken off so the medical/surgical part of the exam was a bit of a struggle (This despite the lollipop I gave her just before we started) The doctor was very nice and also gave Flat Stanley a check up also. She said he had a paper cut but was otherwise as strong as a tree! We then went for the ENT checkup. I had to hold Hannah Joy's face tight to mine so the nurse could check her ears. She got a quick glimpse in her eyes and I don't think she even tried to check her throat. Finally, it was time for weight, height and temp. She did OK for the temp (you know, screaming, squirming, crying) but we managed. They measured her head circumference and then had to weigh her by the nurse holding her while both of them were on the scale and then the nurse got on the scale. She weighed in at 22.5lbs! To measure her height, they held her and measured from head to waist and then waist to feet. She is 33" tall. After all was done, she sat quietly while we waited for Kelly to pay for us. We then walked back to the hotel so we could do paperwork for the consulate appointment tomorrow. It took about an hour to fill out the paperwork. We didn't do it all; Kelly will fill out a lot for us. While Shari and I did paperwork this time, the dad's took the girls for a walk. Chris and Hannah Joy are back now and she is sitting in my lap eating Cherrios and drinking apple juice. Hannah is really a smart little girl. I showed her once how to open and close the zipper bag and she does it all by herself now!
