Challenging Day

Monday mid-morning March 27, 2006 12:00noon
Hannah Joy does NOT like the crib. When she woke up around 2:00am, she screamed and had a major meltdown. I felt bad for the other families on the floor, but there wasn't any thing I coud do. Taking her in the hall would have only made things louder. She finally settled down after 30-45 minutes and fell asleep in my arms. I laid her down on the floor for the rest of the night. She woke up again around 6:30am and I let her crawl in bed with me where she slept until 8:00am. When we dressed her this morning, we took a chance and asked her if she wanted her new squeaky shoes on. She didn't fight it so we put these on rather than the ones she has worn since Delivery Day. Breakfast was so-so. She didn't eat much and wanted me to hold her when she was done. We then went to the play room and she was not very happy there. She sat and clung to me the whole time. She finally decided it was time to go, so we came back to the room to get our coats (it is cool and damp in Guangzhou). This made her mad as well. We wanted to take her for a walk as she liked this so much yesterday. We showed her the stroller and she wanted nothing to do with it. I carried her down to A Home of Love where she really didn't want me. Stella took her and carried her around some while we shopped. She even got her to run a little bit. She was not exactly crazy about coming back to me, but she did. Still no stroller though. We walked around some more hoping to settle her but no deal. I had to carry her until my back said no more. We put her in the stroller, but she climbed out. Chris carried her some, but I think this made her even more mad. After my back and arms had recovered, I carried her back to our room. Once again, she was not happy about being in the room, but did settle and eventually ate a little oatmeal. However, when our travel companion Shari came over, she once again had a meltdown as she wanted to leave the room (we can't, we are waiting for lunch to be delivered). After a 20 min fit, she finally came to me and was still whimpering and crying while standing in my lap. She eventually fell asleep standing in my lap and leaning over my shoulder.
At 2:30 we go for the medical appt. More after we return.
