Last Full Day in NC

Today is our last full day here in NC for CP's mom's funeral. The service was on Monday and we have been busy beavers cleaning out the house, meeting with realtors, meeting with auctioneers, meeting with handymen (for fixing up a few things to sell the house), meeting with the probate office, meeting with the property tax folks - whew!!!

We have hauled two carloads of stuff to the Salvation Army, thown out or recycled about 10 LARGE garbage cans full of trash, cleaned out every closet, moved everything from the independent living facility, calling all account holders, etc. We still need to rip up carpet to expose the hardwood floors in the three bedrooms and the foyer, paint a few things, trim bushes etc.

The main thing now is to start making decisions. We have to decide whether or not we want to keep the house and rent it, sell the house on the RE market or auction it off. This is the biggest issue we have to face. There are a lot of factors to consider - taxes (now and in the future), time on the market, time/value of money. With two siblings - it shouldn't be that hard to get agreement - and if they disagree - one can buy out the other.

Today, we are meeting a realtor to show us some of the "competition" on the market so we can make a final decision.

It has been HOT here - at least as hot as home. Finally, today it is 82 and 60 tonight. Last night we went to Glencoe, NC. I'll post more about it later - gotta go meet the realtor...
