When we jumped in to bring Guan Wei home, we were stepping out in faith on the financial front. While we will have the money later - we don't have the money now. We could just write a check from the home equity line we have on our house, but that's a little scary in this economy. So, we decided to ask for help from others with a promise to pay it forward (a la The 24 Days of Giving ) when we got the money back from taxes and my company adoption grant.
God has blessed us so far since 1/5 when we received our Pre-Approval to adopt Guan Wei with nearly $6000 in donations!!!!!!
We are very grateful to the numerous people who have helped us so far. The donations have ranged in size from $1 to $2000. Each donation is just as important as the next. We have 10 days until we leave for China. In that time, we need to raise another $4000 to bring us to our total goal of $10,000. Yes, I know our chip-in says $7000. That's because there was already $3000 pledged to bring home Guan Wei before we committed to him. The total additional estimated costs for Guan Wei's adoption are $16,000. That includes travel for him, agency fees, USCIS fees and adoption fees.
I've never been one to ask for money. This is one area where I struggle to give control to God. While he has provided for us financially in numerous ways over our lifetimes, I struggle with trying to do it myself. God is stretching me and asking me to depend on him for this one. It is tough to do for someone who prefers to be on the giving and not the receiving end.
So, if you can, could you help us in this final push to bring Guan Wei home? Every $1 counts
