New Blankets

When each of our bio children was born, someone made a handmade blanket for them.  So when we were adopting Hannah, I asked a good friend if she would mind making a blanket for her.  She gladly agreed.  This friend has won awards from the NC State Fair for some of her blankets, so they are very special.  So, when we started the adoption process last year, I asked her yet again if she would make a blanket for us.  Of course, she was more than happy to do so.  Then, I had to ask for an EXTRA special favor when we decided to bring home GW as well.  As usual, she gladly agreed.  I have a TERRIFFIC friend!  (Thanks Pam!)

Last night, I finally had time to give both boys their blankets.  They were both happy to receive them and asked if they were theirs to keep.  I told them YES!  Later in the evening, I found both blankets on their bed and took pictures.

Everyone needs a special blanket. Those are beautiful and your friend is so talented! I'm glad the boys seem to love them. :)

When we adopted our oldest son from Taiwan (1997-98) the ladies living in the English community where I was living gave him a handmade quilt in the "bowtie" pattern - I'm saving it for him to give to his son someday.

What treasures these blankets are! I'm glad you have such a great friend and your boys have a thoughtful mom!

What lovely blankets! It's so nice that your boys see how special they are. If my Aunt Lena was still alive, I'm sure she would have made a blanket for the little one we're bringing home. That would have been so special. She loved doing that for each new family addition (and that's a lot of blankets to be making with so many nieces, nephews, sons, daughters and grandkids). It's great that you have such a sweet friend who is so generously willing to bless your family with her kindness and her talent.
