Delayed Gratification

During our time in China, we were able to visit TJ's school and he was able to say goodbye to all of his classmates.  This was a bittersweet time as we were not able to do this for GW as school was out for Chinese New Year the week we were in Kunming.

When we got to Guangzhou, we bought a disposable camera and notebook for GW to send to his school.  GW wrote a note in it with our home address asking them to take pictures and to write in his notebook for him.  We mailed it and waited expectantly.

and waited

and waited

I had given up hope.  Then this week, we got a note in our mailbox from the post office that a package was waiting for us.  I looked at who it was from and realized the name was Chinese.  I wasn't sure who it was, but I knew the package was for GW.

CP and GW went yesterday and picked up the package.  When they got home, GW opened it and discovered the disposable camera, the notebook, and a thumb drive.  Last night, I plugged in the thumb drive and discovered about 20 pictures that GW's teacher had taken for him of his classmates!  They had even written something to him in Chinese on the chalkboard behind them in the photo (I only recognized his name).  I don't know who was happier - me or GW!  I'll be printing photos for him soon.

Sorry I don't have a photo here for you, I forgot to ask him last night if it was OK to post one.  I'll try to upload one tonight.

That's awesome! I will have to try to do the same. Would you ask GW if he would be willing to share some pictures? (The digital ones.) It's very possible that these are some of the people Wynn knows as well. I know I sent pix of Wynn to one family who was from Kunming, and their child did not know Wynn - but it I don't think I remembered to send to you. There are pictures on our blog http://thenortons.blogspot.com - click Wynn's link. I'm so happy for your son that he gets to have & keep this link to his story.
