He did it!

Ok, I know you're getting tired of me talking about TJ and races!  I promise this is the last one for a while.

This morning, TJ and I got up VERY early (like 5:45am) to get ready and head out for today's race.  This race is in the third series for our county and TJ needed to win/place in his age group to get the special award to be awarded in June.

This was a MUCH smaller race - less than 200 participants.  Still there was a strong contingent of kids, mostly from a local Christian school with a strong running club.  The course was very similar to the one we ran on Thursday.  Through a neighborhood and back.

He did it!  He placed 1st in his age group (by 3 min!) and 19th overall.  He even bested his time from Thursday's race by 14 seconds!

He was a little disappointed, though, when he saw the "trophy".  It was a lanyard with a card attached that said "1st Place Winner - Male 9-11 yrs old"

I'm hoping the special award is a nice one.  I would hate for TJ to have put forth all this effort to receive a simple certificate.  I'm proud of him nonetheless, but I sure hope he thinks it was worth it.  I guess you'll have to check back in June to find out.

No one should be tired of reading about his success and you should be very proud to report it. Way to go.

I would check about the award ahead of time and if it doesn't seem appropriate perhaps get a trophy by yourself
