Yesterday, we were able to visit a local water park. We would not normally do this because it is SO expensive. But, my company was generous enough to provide a free day for their employees and their families - including all-you-can-eat dinner! This is a not to be missed opportunity!
So, we packed up and drove over. We got off of the interstate a mere 0.9 miles from the park. But it took us 30 min to get to the parking lot. Then it took us 30 min to walk back to the front gate, figure out whether or not we needed to stand in line for tickets (we had something, but we werent' sure if they were vouchers or tickets), then find out where my company pavilion was. The staff at the park seemed to be clueless about a lot of these answers.
So, finally at 11:00am we were able to head off to the water slides. The boys went one way and us girls went another. We agreed to meet at the pavilion at 1:00pm for lunch.
At 1:00pm, we met the boys and found out they had only managed to make it on two rides. They had to wait 1 hour in line for each ride. The girls and I only did a little better. We made it on three rides and did one of them twice. Only one of the rides did we have to wait an hour.
After lunch we headed out together and managed to ride on only a few more rides before dinner. The last ride we got to at 4pm and it said the wait was 60 min. Sounded great. We would get done just about 5:00pm and head over for dinner. Well, the best laid plans....
It took an hour and a half for us to get through that line. We finally got down and headed straight to our pavilion for dinner. Fortunately, there was food left, but the ice cream was almost all gone. We then headed off for a few more rides. At 8:00pm, we decided to try for one more ride. The estimated wait time was another 60 min. Unfortunately, the heavens let loose and they closed the ride. We got stuck under a pavilion on the opposite side of the park from our stuff for a little over an hour. It was interesting to listen to the thunder get closer in time to the lightning, then almost instantaneous, then slowly get farther in time. We were finally able to make it to our stuff and then head for the parking lot. It was 9:30pm before we pulled out of the lot and headed for home.
I gave the day a C+. An "A" for the rides, but an "F" for all the waiting we had to do.

This post made me laugh. We recently took all 6 of our littles to Six Flags. We have been planning a trip to Disney and thought this would be good practice. 8 hours, four rides, 6 bathroom breaks,2 snacks and 2(very expensive) meals later, I looked at my husband and said "you know that Disney trip?" He replied, "we'll never survive it". Apparently our family are not good "waiters". We're thinking camping instead.
